Don't update until you hear from me or Poopie. It'll probably be weeks before all the server plugins are updated.

Oh and they have a LOT of Minecraft contests on Worth1000. Some awesome looking stuff like this:

Well, crap, too late for that. Figured I'd wait it out for a few days & see if you guys updated it. Still haven't seen the mysterious chests they were talking about. I won't be in town till Monday anyhow.

LOVE the bismark. Heck of a lot of work there.

I doubt we'll be updating anytime soon. There's a dozen plugins and some of the authors don't even support them anymore so Poop will have to find replacements (the store is no longer supported for instance). We went through this the last update but had no choice back then since the old client forced the update on everyone. The flying mod wasn't updated for a week and all the server plugins were broken for a couple of weeks.

I'm zipping my entire .minecraft folder for my brother. He just got the game after the update so he had no choice and was forced to go directly to 1.4.

I'll give you the link to the download. All you have to do is nuke the contents of the .minecraft folder (back it up first) and replace it with mine. You'll just have to change the key mappings. I have all the mods already installed.

Make sure you are using the new launcher so you have the option of refusing the update.

You should also backup the \.minecraft\mods\zombe\config.txt file. This contains the keyboard binds and settings for the Zombe (flying) mod. My Keyboard binds are probably different than yours.

My new drop trap. For fellow Minecrackers the warp point is VERTICAL_TRAP:

How reliable is it? Taz & I played with it for a while & a few still survived.

Every once in a while a skelly survives the fall so I may need to increase the falling distance, but it may also be a fluke in the game engine.

BTW: Poopie upgraded the server to 1.4 and the Zombe (flying) mod has been updated to work with 1.4: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19090066/minecr ... 1.4_01.zip

I suspect it's a bit of a bug, but who knows without testing. Does the type of material they land on makes any difference?

I'll try the new version & mods out tonight if I get a chance. I'm out of town again this weekend starting tomorrow night, so I'm not likely to be on till Monday or so though.

Norm, are you getting my emails? I put you on the Minecraft mailing list, but I'm using the email you have listed in the forums. If that's not correct, PM it to me.

No the material doesn't matter. I also tried water (so I could deliver the items via water conveyor) but they only die 70% of the time when the fall on water, irregardless of the height.

It's not really a practical trap since you expose yourself to arrows from Skellys when collecting items, and thus you can't leave an Avatar parked there. I really built it more as an artistic showpiece (thus the bullseye).

I'm planning on making a larger one to see if I can match or beat the number of items per hour that Taz's trap produces. I think my design is more efficient for the same square footage.

That is my e-mail, but I haven't received anything yet. Which is odd, since it hasn't showed in either my regular box or my spam box (I check both regularly).

Yeah, we found water ineffective. Wonder if there is a way to make some sort of slide instead.

I do like how you laid it out to show the inner workings & the bullseye was cute.

Here, save yourself some trouble. I've already installed the mods so just download my core files:

- Backup your \.minecraft\mods\zombe\config.txt file
- Download this zip file and extract it into your .minecraft folder:
: http://soldcentralfl.com/bob/minecraft/ ... h_mods.zip

My new giant drowning trap. Warp point is PENG_BIGTRAP (it's located near my drop trap). Help yourself to some loot.

Okay, so after building the drop trap I wanted to try to make as efficient a trap as possible using my vertical terrace spawner design from the drop trap. I also wanted to make a practical trap that you could leave an avatar parked at overnight to load up on items.

This is what I came up with. It's 18 of the vertical spawner towers (twice the size of the drop trap spawner which used 9 towers). Each tower disgorges it's mobs into it's own drowner trap (the design of which I blatanly stole from Brew), which seems to be just about the most efficient way to kill mobs and recover their dropped items.

I then adapted Taz's water/ice conveyor system to make a giant tray under all the drowners to catch the items that fall out (even items that "leak" through the walls when a mob explosively dies). This method results in very little (if any) lost items.

I timed the output and I got 285 items in 10 minutes which equals 1,710 items per hour. I think that's a pretty impressive amount for such a (relatively) small trap. Taz's first trap can out produce me at 2,100 items per hour, but my trap is less than half the size, so it seems to be very efficient.

Not much fun to watch because too much glass prevents the drowners from working properly.

Since the trap is modular, it would be very simple to paste a second one behind it and run the item drop trays together. Since the trap is only 60 blocks high I could also add nearly double the height to it by increasing the number of spawning terraces, and not increase the square footage at all (only the cubed footage). I'm going to experiment with both ideas.
