Yeah they should make it available on STEAM. Shouldn't be this hard.

Nice comparison of the same area in the old and new game which shows that they really did re-do the levels and didn't just port it over:

Played about an hour last night, but I'm stuck at the place where there is water in a channel with some floating boxes. I've gone to both ends and can't figure out how to get out. It's a long channel, but the ends are blocked with a grate. On the ceilings are those alien grabbers that will pull you up if you are not careful.

I think there is a ladder on one end of the canal to climb up on the other side.

I've been fairly busy here lately and we've had both power and internet outages too this week but after some hassles, I finally got it DL'd and working. Hopefully I'll get more time to play it this weekend.

I have to say they did a fantastic job makes me want to play the orginal again, I really hope they get the multiplayer working
