Well I hope anyone who was planning on buying a PC got one already, because DDR5 RAM is pretty much unobtainium for anyone who isn't rich.
Out of curiosity I was just checking pre-built gaming PC prices, and almost all of them on Amazon now come with only 16GB in order to avoid sticker shock. Even the high end models.
Glad I upgraded my gaming PC to 64GB a few months ago. I'm good for a few years.
FYI: DDR4 kits are still reasonably priced, so if you have a DDR4 mobo, it's a good time to upgrade, since I expect prices to go up eventually as supplies dwindle. I would even recommend building a system with DDR4 right now if you need to keep costs reasonable. A 5800X3D with DDR4 is still one heck of a powerhouse.
There are also some AM5 mobos out there that can take DDR4.

Thanks to all the AI data centers.

I'm still running on a 5900X. My workstation has 128GB, upgrading to a system with DDR5 would be about $1500 just for memory, yikes!

I'm VERY relieved that I built my new gaming rig a couple of months ago. RAM is through the roof now.
We just bought a new Cisco UCS compute chassis with 2 blades. The RAM alone was $90k and our rep told us that if we didn't order by Dec 31, then the quote would expire and the RAM would be around $150k.
