I think he meant "recollection". That's scary...i've been reading his posts long enough to actually understand them :)

I think it's a good move as well. Everyone knows where to get the things they need.

Having a separate "dealer" section really wouldn't accomplish anything, since the same issues that pop up in the forum the way it is now would pop up there as well. Most of these guys can survive on referrals alone anyway.

Just because dealers aren't going to be allowed in here doesn't mean that we're going to get better prices on selling our personal stuff. We all know that this isn't the only forum out there and if we find a better deal on the goods we are looking for elsewhere (yes, even with a dealer) then we're going to go there.

I agree with the idea of taking dealers out of here, but let's not get too overly idealistic.

I am still a little confused. So let's say the Radeon 2 comes out, and the price is $299 or something, $250 on pricewatch for an OEM. And I can get them for like $220 shipped and I post a thread. Is that bad, or okay, will the members be happy but mods kill me? =) I don't know, I mean, if I can offer "good deals" then I'll be happy to do it, but if people don't want me to do that, then of course I will just buy a couple myself and that's it! ;)

Hawk, the way you are now describing it will probably be considered a dealer thread. You are saying that you probably have a supplier/vendor that regularly supplies you with products that undercut retailers. Then no, that would not be okay. Sounds to me like you do have a connection like that, true? That's no different than selling RAM here that you're getting from a supplier at a low cost, and it's not like you're going thru all that trouble just out of the goodness of your heart right?

Now the kind of thing we wouldn't frown on is when someone stumbles into a great deal (or sale) not having planned on it, then it would be allright depending on the amount of items (not like an endless supply you know). Trust me, if we see someone posting a lot of bulk sales in a row there will be questions asked. What you are saying is more of a regular deal for you where you will more than likely have a connection for that item, and that you are planning to sell some here for profit.

There will be 'some' deals that will fall in that gray area because there may be no clear distiction of it being a 'dealer' thread, but mostly I think you do understand it and if we need clarification on a sale we will ask for it. It's fairly clear who has been posting as a dealer on the forums and who hasn't. Basically it comes down to this: if it's a bulk sale and you are looking to make a profit, you're a dealer.

Now it's different if you came on a sale and bought several of the same items so you can share the great deal with members on the board, by all means go ahead :D .

You can always email us to ask before you post too if you need to know whether you can post certain item for sale...

I still like the seperate dealer area myself. The reason is this, Yes I do know how to get ahold of the people that have ram, cpu's, mobos and video cards when I need them but I also enjoy being able to read the posts of what people have for sale at less than retail so I can determine what I want to buy that I didn't know I needed. I have bought a lot of things that I was not really looking for but the price was so good that I went ahead and got it. If It were not for the post then I would never know about those types of deals.

Blade, I would expect most of those guys are clearing enough to pay you a little for each post, they are making a profit from the free service you provide so why not take a little for the use of the board?

As for people cutting each others prices we all know how the business world works, it's the law of supply and demand and that is the problem of those who want to do that business, not Blade's and not the boards.

So, my vote is for setting them up a space to post and cut each other's profit margins to ribbons why we all reap the benifits!

By the way, no one has a cheap used stick of PC100, 128 meg?????

I think if a "Dealer" like bonkers or compuwiz are selling products and are having no complaints no one is hurt and they are supplying a needed service. If there are cut out of the picture this is sad. This or any other BBS is not in any way responsible for there actions.

I also feel if they aren't claiming taxes on these Profits all the more power to them !!!! The frickin goverment gets to much of all of are money period ! Did you know that Federal Income Tax was created to finance the first world war. Someone needs to tell them the war is over LOL!!!!!!!
Whatever it is it has to be Fast and Stable !!!

I sell stuff out of the Goodness of my heart. Granted my heart is Black and stored in a mason jar in a Lab somewhere. ;)

I still think It basicaly boiles down to this:

U get a deal and buy up a bunch of stuff that U turn around and sell on PCA. Hay that is Great. I say it is ok to make a few bucks for your effort and what not. U do this Weekly and that is a No NO. Also there are other people who just randomly get stuff in for what ever reason IE they had an order for a few computers that falls threw so U have all the product to sell or U buy a thing or 2 for your self and end up Not liking/needing/wanting it there is nothing wrong with that. That is what these boards are fore. not some guy who is 2 lazy to set up a website and pay a chargecard fee.

The thing that is Bad is U buy a Pile of stuff sell it for a slight profit and turn around and buy another pile of stuff and keep going like that. There have been one or 2 so called dealers that got in over there head and jacked there "customers" around so I think this rule is needed and shoudl be enforced by all BBS's.

There are people like Red and my self who just Always seem 2 get stuff in for what ever reason but it is Not a constant flow of the same product day in and day out and we do other stuff becides just post our FS spam thred. Stuff Like Argue. :)

NOS440...I dought many of us would say we endorse the government on all it waistful ways but the fact is bad stuff can happen when U dont pay them and U are suposed to. Not just to the person who didnt pay but some times every one who buys from them or even knows about them not paying. it is like when U higher a Contractor to do something to your house and they get a Sub contractor to do the work for them. and the Contractor does not Pay...the Subcontractor has the Right to sue U even though they were not the people u hired. Laws ant fun and even harder to understand but some stuff needs to change.

again I might be off on this but this seems about right the way I see it.

Greg
