Finally my back woods living ass can get some cable going!! I just called em and my up/down speeds are 256k/2048k. Does that sound good? Well anything is better than what I'm getting with dialup. Only 29.95 a month. Oh yeah they want to come hook everything up. Puulease!! They aint touching my box. they let you rent the modem which the lady didn't have a clue what brand it was. Is that gonna matter or should I look into buying my own? What NIC should I get? Is one better than another? I'm so excited I think I'll go home tonight and give the wife a good, well I better not get into that. Cable cable everywhere, its so fast we don't care. :)

WOW...2048 downspeed....

I only get 512k and I'm very happy with that...

I rent my modem and I've got a D-Link PCI Network card which cost all of £15 and it works great....

Make sure it uses a network card though..some companies use USB modems and they suck bigtime....

I pay £33 ($48) a month but it's well worth it, especially if you play online games a lot...

Setup yourself with a nice 3com or Intel server NIC :D
But really, anything Intel/3com/Netgear will do ya just fine.
Make sure it's PCI though, ISA's are significantly slower.

Providing you have reliable service youll love it!
I have 1500k down service here.
Another nice thing is not having to dialup and wait for the connection to establish.. Always connected always ready. :)

As for nic's I can't say anything bad about Sohoware for 19.95 a card. I'm running one in each comp and no probs after pulling a faulty netgear out of one. (nothing wrong with netgear BTW.. We run tons of em at work without problems.. I must have got a bad one)
Really, any properly working nic should do..
GeForce GTX 970
AMD FX 8350 8 core Processor
16 GIG
Seems plenty good for gaming! :)

W00T!!! THey're coming Tuesday morning to hook it up. I got the digtial cable for the tv with all the channels(hbo, cinemax, etc) the digital converter box, the 2mbit internet connection, modem and everything for 89.95 a month. Not bad considering I've been paying $60 a month for my DSS and $20 a month for DU. Now I get to wait......
