It's all relative
I did 83mph in my 72 purple VW beetle, downhill with a tailwind in Saskatchewan.

When I was 17 I was stupid
When I was 17 I guess I was just plain stupid to do it, but it was sure a rush. I topped out my Mom's grocery getter (94' Z28 Camaro) at somewhere around 156mph. That's about the speed I passed the big rig on the highway, I quickly realized I better slow down before I kill myself. Didn't take it long to get there either.

Those Camaro's and young kids just don't mix. Most of my friends have SS's or Z28 or Firebirds with fixed up engines. One guy hit either 168 or 178, don't remember, although I think it was 178. That's just begging to get killed. to all parents out there, if you care about your kids, get them a geo metro.
Both F-body cars (crapmaros and furbirds) are some of the absolute worst cars. I've know probably 30 people with those two cars in all their variations (v6 and v8) and all of them had problems basically. One lady i knew who worked for Valvoline said she was intentionally doing 90mph on interstate and then trying to throw it into second to over-rev and blow the engine up...she hated that car that bad...she wanted Chevy to pay for it. They wouldn't take it back as a lemon...it had nothing but problems and only had around 20k on it. My wife's dad has a POS Z28. I hate those cares. The insides of them are ugly, cheap, and the seats feel like crap. The worse is Chevy's dashboards in the trucks/cars. WTF? They are square and look straight outta the 80s! Whats with that? They've always been two steps beind in the car game. Go figure.
Theres a reason they are discontinuing the Crapmaros and Furbirds

120 in a 2000 nissan altima. 4 cyl baby
Wasnt even shaking. Well it was a little but that was from how fast the engine was going. I think she was at 5000 rpms. Redline is at 6200
Other than that though it was not bad at all. Except for my white knuckle grip trying not to move the wheel at all. Although it didnt like 120 at all it liked to cruise at 100 @ like 4500 rpms. It was really strange though...I was going 120 w/ my friend in the car and hes like "tom slow down" so I did and was going in and out of traffic and hes like clutching the holy shit handle. I'm just like wtf is wrong with you? Then I look at the speedo and oops, 100mph in and out of traffic.
Didnt feel like it though.
115mph on the I in a '95 camaro (v6) ... i wasnt the driver though. the digital speedo on my '87 lebaron gts (4 banger 2.2 turbo) tops out at '90 or so. it shakes so badly that the camaro at 115 felt safer.
speaking of the digital gauges on the old lebarons... the speedo on mine goes crazy. it barely ever registers the correct speed. it drops to 0, jumps up to 60, back down to 15, then to 83. if you take your foot off the accelerator it usually registers the correct speed (unless its sitting at 0). anyone ever experience this or know how to fix it?

there are two loves in my life: fast computers and faster cars.
I've taken my supra to 138 before chickening out down a 2 mile long road.
when I was at supras invade las vegas last year, I was in a 874 rwhp mk4 TT supra and we went about 190-200mph (hard to tell becuase speedo's aren't correct at those speeds)I nearly crapped my pants in that one.

Magtec - that's odd about your lebaron. My 86 took me up to 115 without any trouble, and it was just the basic 2.2 - no turbo, no nothing. That was even before I switched to Premium fuel
Anyway, that's my story - 115 in an 86 Chrysler LeBaron GTS.
