I just want to thank all of you for your prayers and hopes, but my mom lost her battle to pancreatic cancer today. I will be in sporadic contact for a few days and then possibly more frequently, I love you guys and thank you sincerely for your support.

OMG hammer, I'm soooooo sorry to hear this. I know there isn't much one can say to ease the feelings you are experiencing, but know I'm thinking about you, sending you whatever strength I can share to help you find the strength to deal with your loss....damn, there are so many things I wish to say, but I really don't want to overstep, and I don't want to 'assume' just what you may be feeling, so it's hard to offer the right words, as I know some people are able to handle the passing of a loved one somewhat easier than others, and not knowing you well, and not knowing your personal strength, I find myself at a loss....I lost an Uncle, that I was 'just' getting close with, to cancer 10 yrs back, and fortunately, because of how I view death, although I was terribly upset to lose him when we were starting to get close, at the same tme, I found he offered me a lot of strength in his last moments to help me get thru it. I know you don't know me from a hole in the ground....but if you EVER just wanna talk it out, I'm more than willing to lend an ear, and whatever else I can to help. Again, I'm so sorry to hear this...my thoughts are with you and your family.....{{{hammer}}} (hugs)
Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. :D

I started writing about some cancer losses and diagnosis' over the last year that I've had to deal with concerning friends and family. But it doesn't really match when you lose your own mom.

I can say that I am familiar with how difficult it is to deal with this kind of loss. It really hurts.

Instead of running SETI, I decided to run United Devices to try and help find a treatment, or maybe even a cure. I run it in memory of, or in hopes for, some of my favorite people in the whole world.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.

Wow.....I've never read such a saddening thread title in my life. :( It's sorta ironic, at least for me. I was just up to the UK Med Center this afternoon for an entrance exam for a medical study of a new cancer-fighting drug - yeah, I'm gonna be a human guinea pig. Gosh....

Well, I suppose all I can do is echo the sentiments of the other members. I sincerely feel for your loss, and I'm also glad that she is now in a better place. No more pain for her anymore, just sunshine. Err, sonshine.
