broken refurb'd game theater xp?

Post by Chia »

I bought a refurbished GTXP and when i opened the box, lo and behold...
a chunk of the voltage regulator on the card itself is broken off.
Its the STMicro L780*** regulator (the rest of the parts number is gone).

Should I even put this into my system? Would it catch on fire and wreak unspeakable havoc?

Or would it work a-okay.

Newegg.com said that they'd RMA it for a refund, but i just want a working sound card (they're outta stock).

Does anyone know if Hercules/Guillemot would replace/fix it and at what cost?

It is your decision but if it were me I would send it back and get your money back.
