I'd be interested to know if you have even played a Gamecube or Xbox kiosk(if you can find a Xbox kiosk working that is).

My dreams of co-op Halo on separate X-Boxes tonight has been shattered. The X-Box I got tonight was DOA. Runs the logo and the LED turns red then it tells me to call MS. I did and they said they could send me a box to ship it off to get fixed and I would have one 7-10 days from when I ship the bad one out. I said screw that and think I'll take it back to EB and get a refund. The other one I got works fine, I love it. I think I'll get a GC from Wal-Mart on Saturday night if they have any left by the time I get there.
I'd love to have YOUR video game budget!

Yes it's nice but it comes at a price. I live in my parent's basement. It just happens that I got a kickass job close to home after college so I just haven't left yet. We get along well so they haven't drove me away yet and I don't have to pay rent. My dad always picks on me about it because I make quite a bit more money than he does. :) I've been paying off college and my car and saving some cash too then I plan on getting a house of my own in the not too distant future. Why rent when I can just buy. :)

Hey Schwartz I've seen a few people post at the IGN Xbox boards about the same problem you are having.A few peeps postedpics. My guess is it was damaged in shipping(damaged HD?) rather than it being a production problem.

How do you like Halo so far?

bummer.

When I first read your post, it made it sound like you were saying "The xbox logo showed up on screen and then turned red".....I was thinking "is this an EVIL Xbox?" :D j/king. (I re-read your post and realized you meant the "eject" button AFTER I looked at a demo system at my local Mall.)

Yup thats the same picture and yeah it was the light around the eject button that turns red. I think it is probably the hard drive too, but it does spin up. It could be something as simple as a loose IDE cable. I was tempted to gut it and post some better pictures of it than I have seen on the web. But I did just pay $300 for it so if it wasn't something that simple I would void the warranty and probably be up the creek without a paddle.

Halo is awesome. But it begs for a mouse and keyboard. My only complaints are some slowdown in certain areas and the warthawg feels like it is on ice all the time. I really havent got all that far in it yet but so far it has been great. Who knows maybe there is a hidden go online option in there somewhere and it can be the first game to be patched :) Get some tweakin going on where the slowdown is, attach that warthawg to the ground, and add mouse and keyboard support and it'd be golden. I will still buy it when/if it comes out on the PC. The sound kicks ass. I bought a home theater system just before I got the X-Box and it makes the sound incredible. Sounds are coming from all around you and the sound separation is excellent. The next thing on my to get list is a HDTV. :)

I got the DVD remote as well and while I haven't really watched any movies on it yet offhand I would have to say it looks better than the PS2.

You guys won't believe this! I took back the bad X-Box and someone didn't take their preorder so I got to swap for another. I get home and hook the new one up and it's bad too! :mad Oh well, I like the one that works. I guess I wasn't meant to have two of them. I ended up just getting a refund and buying a GC control pad, memory card, and Rouge Leader. I'll see if I can get a GC from Wal-Mart at midnight. :)

This little story sorta makes me not want to even consider getting an XBox until it's "SR1" if you know what I mean.
It almost seems that these Xboxes weren't tested as one piece as most computers are. Course, that sounds like standard M$ practice anyway.

I heard the failure rate was less than 1% so far. I just got unlucky... twice. I should go buy a lottery ticket. I have had no problems with my other X-Box and it's really been getting a workout.

Well I got my black Game Cube at Wal-Mart at midnight. I got a Jet Black Cube, Wave Race, Monkey Ball, Rouge Leader, an extra controller, and 2 memory cards. Wal-Mart had 50 Cubes half of each color. I think everyone that was in line got one I didn't hang around to find out. I think I was #8 or something like that.

The first thing you notice about the system is the size, it's small. It's actually pretty neat looking. The control pad is comfortable to hold but the d-pad position sucks. I still think the PS2 has the best control pad overall.

After spending some time with it I'd have to say the thing doesn't make me pee my pants from the sheer excitement of playing it as most Nintendo Fanboys would have you believe. Graphicly it hasn't made my jaw drop yet. Yes it looks good, no I don't regret buying it, but damn it I'm gonna go play some Halo now...

Hi guys, first post here. :)

I could get any of the three top consoles, but alas my computer interests seem to drain all available cash.... you've experienced this too, I'm sure. So no console for me, although they all seem quite good. If I had to choose one... I guess Nintendo, based on good-old-fashioned loyalty... always liked their games.

Got mine yesterday and played the hell out of it.I got a Indigo Cube,Super Monkey Ball,Rogue Leader, and Wave Race extra controller and memory card.SMB is a blast. The wife and I spent the better part of the day on the mini(unlocked pool and bowling)and party games alone! If you dont enjoy SMB you are either a jaded gamer or have nobody to play it with you.The single player also rocks.

Rogue is great so far,it starts off pretty easy gets hard later on.Graphics are tight and sound is top notch.I got chills on the Death Star trench run when I heard Obi Wan tell me to use the force lol.

I havent spent that much time on WR because SMB just keeps drawing me back in.

I'm probly gonna have to hide SMB from myself so I can spend some time with my other tittles. :)
